La Montaña Rusa #38.2019. English version. Duke Ellington Orchestra. Cuarteto Fuerte. Ferenc Snetberger. Cuong Vu 4tet. Dan McCarthy.

We open this number 38.2019 with our Classic Jazz Recording of the Week, the great Duke Ellington with other of those non previously released recordings, this one recently discovered and published. In this case is a live performance of the Duke Ellington Big Band in the Swedish city of Uppsala in 1971, recording which is part of the private collection of the musician, The Stockpile and it was recently discovered. His title, Uppsala 1971.

In our section Jazz in Spanish, we introduced the music of the Sevillian quartet Cuarteto Fuerte, with his debut this year, Cuarteto Fuerte, a brilliant mixture of Jazz Rock, Fusion and other bits. Very interesting. We’ve enjoyed also with one of the last recordings by the Hungarian guitarist Ferenc Snetberger, Titok, released in 2017 for ECM; the last recording of the trumpeter Cuong Vu and his 4tet, Changes in the Air, published in 2018 and we finish with the new release of the vibraphonist Dan McCarthy, the stunning and quiet Epoch, published this 2019.

La Montaña Rusa #38.2019. Duke Ellington Orchestra. Cuarteto Fuerte. Ferenc Snetberger. Cuong Vu 4tet.
